aspacpalestine.com – Lome. The postponement of the Africa-Israel Summit, is “a victory for humanitarian values and its defenders,” Hamas political bureau member, Izzat Al-Risheq, said yesterday.
“The summit’s cancellation is a victory to the accumulated African efforts against all the injustice, racism, fascism regimes represented by the Zionist state,” Al-Risheq stressed on his Twitter account.
He noted that the postponement is also a victory for the “Palestinian conflict defenders.”
According to Israel’s Haaretz, the event was postponed following a request by Togo’s President, Faure Gnassingbé, to the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.
The summit, whose slogan was to be “Building bridges toward greater shared prosperity,” was due to take place from 23-27 October in the Togo’s capital, Lome.
Several Arab countries, the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab Inter-Parliamentary, as well as other Arab and regional organisations, have called for derailing the gathering.
