Return the Tradition of Victory

Continuing the tagline minal aidin wal faizin which is the orientation of Muslims in the month of Ramadan, that is to achieve victory and return to the good traditions embed by the Prophet PBUH.

Among the preserved traditions in the history of Muslims is the tradition of victory. The victory that stretches for the ease of society to run the guidance of Allah’s religion and facilitate the people get a touch of grace of Islam

Al-Hakim narrates in his Al-Mustadrak ‘ala al-Sahîhayn that Prophet Isa PBUH was saved by Allah from an assassination attempted by his people carried out on the same month as the month of the decline of al-Quran. The month of the declining of the Qur’an is the month of Ramadan as we know it.

Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) and the Companions won a significant victory in the tense war of existence, Badr al-Kubra on the 17th of Ramadan 2 H. Then the conquest of Makkah (Fathu Makkah) occurred on the 20th of Ramadan 8 H. The victory tradition was also well preserved. On 15 Ramadan 138 H / 20 February 756 Abdurrahman ad-Dakhil established a government in Andalusia and built the foundations of Islamic progress in Europe.

On the 26th of Ramadan 583 H (1188), Saladin al-Ayyubiy won the Hittin Battle against the Crusaders. On 25th Ramadan 658 H (1260) Saif el-Dien Qutz eliminated the Mongol soldiers in the Ain Jalut Battle (known as Ending of Mongol Empire) after in the past became a Muslim nightmare, for destroying the Abbasiyah dynasty in Baghdad.

On the 4th of Ramadan 666 H (1268), the town of Anthakiya, one of the most important cities of Sham, returned to the lap of the Ummah (Muslims) after 170 years control by the Crusaders.

In the history, Muslims gained the victory and continued various traditions of victory, especially achieved in the month of Ramadan. Surprisingly, after centuries passed the tradition is difficult to maintain. The bitter fact is that Muslims now are marginalized. Often became the victim of the stigmatization of bad things, from the backwardness, irregularities, terrorism, radicalism, intolerance and so on. Even worse, Muslims’ lives have become worthless. The world becomes less empathetic with thousands, tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of Muslims lost by injustice.

Thus, the role of leadership by Muslims is increasingly reduced. That is because – one of them – Muslims away from the orbit of its awakening, the Quran.

In his saying the Messenger of Allah warned that the house that is not recited by the verses of the Qur’an is like a graveyard. So, look how many houses of Muslims transformed into graves. They eat, sleep, and mingle with their families as if done in a grave. The next day, when they out of the house, it’s like they’re out of the grave. As if Muslims transformed into walking corpses. They build civilization from within the grave.

So, in response to the current Muslims’ condition, there is no choice but to return to the Qur’an. If Muslims want to regain the leadership of human civilization, that’s the right solution. The angel which is in contact with the Qur’an, Gabriel (Jibril) became the best angel. The man who received the first Qur’an, the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, became the best man even he is the best Prophet, the night which became the means of descending the Qur’an turn into the best night ever (lailat al-qadar). The month of Ramadan in which the Qur’an was revealed also has become the best month among the months. The people of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, became the best people because they have the Qur’an which is the rule of living the life of Allah Swt.

Return the tradition of victory. Start from making the house a center of civilization. That is, by making our dwelling house shine with the Qur’an.
