During the holy month of Ramadan when we see the mosque, almost certainly there were vibrations of spirit. The splendid activity of worship was very visible. The five times prayers conducted in congregation. Even the mosques were full of worshippers who attended tarawih prayers, especially in the early months of Ramadan. Even the tahajjud (night) prayer attended by many worshippers. Some of worshippers even awaited the calm reciting the verses of the holy al-Quran. Float off along with the beauty of the rhythm, dissolves in the heavenly messages strung into His beautiful and vibrant kalam (Word of God). Others spent the day and night in silence in the mosque (i’tikaf). Such was the extraordinary phenomenon of last month. The mosque serves as the center of activity and the starting point of all inspiration of kindness and meeting of great ideas in contributing to humanity.
It’s been three weeks from the end of Ramadan. Look at mosques and mushallas. Are the activities twisted or the same or even increased from the month of Ramadan?
It is this meaning that should be maintained and enhanced continuously. Because the mosque has a very important role in the early of Islamic era. The Prophet PBUH was mobilizing to build the Nabawi Mosque when he arrived in the city of Yathrib (Medina). The mosque became the center of the implementation of worship, the center of learning, teaching, assemblies of science and dhikr, a place to receive guests, inauguration of messengers of the Prophet PBUH to various countries. The mosque became the center of consulting services, a place and inspiration of the brilliant ideas of the Companions. Incarnate into a strategic council and R & D (Research and Development). Various military and war strategies planned there.
If Muslims today are wriggling with the physical construction of the mosque, then it is a something to boast about. However, if only interpreted by the physical development alone, it will be paradoxical with the mosque’s actual mission that became the center of inspiration of various good ideas.
Allah denying what the kuffar quraysh (a tribe that historically inhabited and controlled Mecca and its Ka’aba) claimed in prospering the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram). Look at the statement, “It is not for the polytheists to maintain the mosques of God [while] witnessing against themselves with disbelief. [For] those, their deeds have become worthless, and in the Fire they will abide eternally.”(Surah At-Tawbah [9:17])
They thought that by giving water to the people who came to perform the pilgrimage or visit the Masjid al-Haram was considered good enough in prospering the mosque? This assumption denied by Allah. Because their deeds were paradoxical. They even fought the Muslims to do many things that Allah commanded. The Qur’an often speaks of it with ” yashudduna ‘an sabilillah” (hinder Allah’s way).
Currently, the same situation could be happened. Build a luxury mosque, but oppress the Muslims? Build a magnificent mosque, but violate the Shari’ah of Allah? Build a gold-plated mosque, but have a foul hearted and stabbing a fellow Muslim? Race in the glory of building a mosque but not sensitive to the condition of Muslims. Then the action will be in vain.
The nature that should be fulfilled is like the following narrative of Allah, “The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and establish prayer and give zakah and do not fear except Allah, for it is expected that those will be of the [rightly] guided.” (Surah At-Tawbah [9:18])
Even if people had prospered the mosque but he was silent in when witnessing the tyranny, then it also becomes like a dud. Look at the message of Allah, “Have you made the providing of water for the pilgrim and the maintenance of al-Masjid al-Haram equal to [the deeds of] one who believes in Allah and the Last Day and strives in the cause of Allah? They are not equal in the sight of Allah. And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.” (Surah At-Tawbah [9:19])
So, when there is injustice displayed and silenced then people who claimed to have prospered the mosque but he was silent, worth it? Especially if the blashemy and the injustice that occurred in Masjid al-Aqsa courtyard. O Muslims who continue to be asked to prosper the mosque, drive out the various injustice from within the mosque and the court. Previously, drive out the selfish and envy with the brother from within this chest.
