KUALA LUMPUR, (PIC)– The Malaysian Home Minister Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced the launch of the “Save Al-Quds Global Campaign” at the Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque in Putrajaya.
Malaysia is to use its position as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council to intensify efforts to defend Palestine and holy al-Aqsa Mosque against the assaults of the Israeli occupation, said the Home Minister.
The “Save Al-Quds Global Campaign,” sponsored by Ahmad Zahid, is an initiative to enlighten Malaysians on the critical state of affairs in Occupied Jerusalem and push for defending Muslims’ holy Al-Aqsa Mosque against Israel’s Judaization schemes.
He called for the need to step up international rallies and protests to urge the recognition of Palestine as an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The initiative has been launched by the Kuala Lumpur-based al-Quds Foundation – Malaysia and joined by more than 24 charity institutions.
Head of al-Quds Foundation, Dr Mohamed Makrem, said the campaign aims at raising awareness of the socio-historical weight of the holy occupied city of Jerusalem for the entire Muslim community everywhere across the globe.
Earlier the Malaysian Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs issued an official circular urging all Friday Imams (preachers) to brief the Muslim congregations on the state of affairs in Occupied Jerusalem and elicit serious reactions against Israel’s attempts to enforce a spatio-temporal division on holy al-Aqsa Mosque.
